Blood For Oil!

Three weeks ago, I gave blood. Last week, in the mail, I received an Exxon Mobile cash card from the New York Blood Center with a five dollar credit on it. Blood for Oil!

(Or: Altruist acts may result in a nasty bruise on one's arm, whether or not one gets a free quarter mile's worth of gas for it!)

B.T.W. I would warn you about person info in the picture but I'm sure it already crossed your mind.

Oh, you're A+. Well of course you are.

I didn't know they gave out prizes for donating. I may have to get stuck the next time the opportunity arises.

Wow, that is unreal! I wonder who is behind such nefarious, underhanded 'deals'? So, Mobil Oil is in "cahoots" with the NYC Blood Donor Society?! At the very least, I see that the card was redeemable for cash!

i can see the t-shirt:

i payed taxes to help fund a billion dollar war,
in which several thousand of my countrymen died,
the result of which increased the already bloated profits of the oil companies,
i donated blood...
and all i got was this lousy $5 gas card.
(oh, and btw, i live in a city where most people dont drive anyway)

do you think it would fit???

Gas in New York? You'd think they'd give you a Metrocard...

just saw love ludlow and really enjoyed it. after reading thru your blog, it occurred to me that the impression i have of you from your acting work, and the impression i'd have from reading your blog (if you were unknown) are of two completely different people. not sure if that means anything, other than the fact that you are probably a dynamic person, or, that you suffer from some kind of schizophrenia - which in itself could be a sign of genius. then again, maybe its just more or less common that the way people write and how they behave are naturally different. oh well, enough rambling for now. tootles.

Well, that's ironic. Wait for the mainstream media gets ahold of this...blood for oil thingy. It will sell millions of papers! :)

After many blood donations, you also get some nice war wounds (scars) on your arm! Worth it, for such a good deed!

Hey Lecy/Alicia,

I stumbled across your web site and tried writing you a couple weeks ago - not certain of its arival, importance, etc. In any event, as it has been a while, just wanted to say hello, let you know I'm doin' fine: living in Dixie, bartendending, traveling, and generally living like an overgrown child. Likewise, I hope all is well with you - I saw your film, which was quite clever and endearing.

In any event, I'm on vacation as of last Tuesday and off to scenic Douala on Monday, visiting an old pal and hiking a bit.

Hope you're doing well.

Best,

-Alex

I think the image is awesome. A sort of clash, but maybe not. Good for you though.
