LA

I used to live in LA.  And I went there for a visit over the weekend.  And a flood of memories returned.

I remember the first time I saw palm trees.  And ate a real burrito.  And saw the ocean.  And the mountains and smog.

And the new age flyers.  And the muscle beach boys.  And the cabanas; the year-round outdoors.  And the cults and psychics.  The coyotes and brushes.

It's nice to know it's all still there.

When I moved from NYC to LA six years ago all I knew was the West Hollywood area, then when I knew better I moved to Laurel Canyon (coyotes) but the mudslides were too much. Then I moved to Los Feliz, a little Greenwich Village in LA (Yuca's burritos). Now, I moved somewhere I swore I never would...the valley-well Studio City. NYC is still in my blood, and sadly each year it gets thinner.

i remember the first time i drove into L.A. (@1993), i was coming in on the 10 fwy, and as soon as it started getting more populated, i was like, yippee, im gonna see the ocean soon - but i didnt know the area, and really i had just entered san bernadino, so i kept driving and driving, thinking when the hell am i gonna get to the ocean? finally i got there, and i remember hearing jed the fish on the radio, and at the time, his 'surfer' voice was really evident(im from st louis) - now it seems normal (not that i listen to him anymore). but yeah, i just layed on the sand and soaked up the sun. then the reality of living here hit me pretty quickly.

I just sort of stumbled upon your blog... Nice layout by the way. Been perusing some of your poems. "No Change In..." is quite good.

LA... don't know how anyone could enjoy that town... I much prefer NY.

Vacuum cleaner nightmares... this is not right! =)

Gotta go... be well and be happy...

Awesome you paid tribute to Glenn Quinn on the awards. You two seemed to have good chemistry onstage. I was shocked when I heard.
