Squirrels are pretty cool. You hold out a peanut and you can see a greedy little glint in their eye. If you feed them too much the get almost predatory. My wife and I were walking in Central Park ( the one in Burnaby, BC , not NYC)and the little creeps would stand in the middle of the trail and not let anyone pass until they'd been fed. Recently I've tried some Squirrel Fishing. It's great, you tie a peanut to a weight and some fishing line and you cast into some bushes. When a squirrel grabs it you start to reel it in. The greedy little clown will actually fight you for that peanut. Some of the more evolved squirrels will chew through the fishing line. Loads of fun.
I once saw my friend feeding crackers to a squirrel and he was bitten really hard. The squirrel tried to bite him back, but my friend is spry and got away.
That is one fat squirrel! I have one where I live that I call "One-eyed Jack" as he only has one eye. He's pretty friendly but you can tell he's up in age. Everytime, I think he's gone to the other side, he appears from nowhere! Nice blog.
Squirrels scare me. There are so many of them here, of all kinds. I have this nagging fear that they're going to gang up and attack me one day as I'm checking the mail. They're getting really brazen too... it's unnerving.
Here, it's skunks. I don't know what it is about Southern Ontario, but it's a haven for skunks. Don't open your windows in the springtime...
